Design and Development of Technical-Biological Erosion Protection Systems

The key objective of TB-Protect is to develop technical-biological erosion protection systems adapted to climate change conditions. Steep-slope constructions are particularly common in alpine areas, slope protection and erosion control important measures for traffic safety and mobility. The extreme microhabitat conditions on steep slopes, particularly with regards to water availability, extreme temperatures, soil conditions or nutrient supply, are expected to be exacerbated by climate change.

TB-Protect develops integrated strategies to keep up longterm functionality of technical-biological erosion protection systems under changing climatic conditions. It thereby contributes to the adaptation of road traffic infrastructure.
