Project Information

Mount++ - Development of a model region for pioneering energy-efficient and sustainable Alpine tourism

Adapting a pilot destination to the process of change according to the principles of sustainable development offers many challenges and opportunities.

By the example of the Alpbach Valley science based concepts and approaches for future-oriented use of resources - especially energy - are being developed, implemented, and evaluated. The inter-sectorial spatial analysis and comparison of energy sinks (buildings, infrastructure, and transport) and potentials of regionally available renewable energy sources (hydropower, solar energy, and wind power) represent the data base of the project.

Building on that possible future development scenarios are being developed and a decision-making process, to implement technological, structural, and economic measures for energy system optimization, has been initiated.

Social-scientific surveys of guests, locals and decision makers deliver additional facts on the feasibility of innovations. Visual examples and target group-oriented forms of communication ensure knowledge transfer and public awareness.
