Runoff study for determining flood flow frequency for the Kohlenbach catchment

Precipitation-runoff-modelling with two seperate models as well as a flood chronicle.

Runoff study for determining flood flow frequency for the Kohlenbach catchment

The main objective of the project is to determine the flood frequency of the Kohlenbach river in the Tyrolean Alps. Two different rainfall-runoff models are used and a design storm approach is applied to determine the 100-year flood event along the Kohlenbach from its origin to its confluence with the Großache river in Kössen. The results are utilized for revising the hazard zones along the Kohlenbach river. Beside the hydrological modelling exercise, a flood chronicle is compiled and the flood generating patterns of documented flood events are reconstructed in order to better understand flood processes in the Kohlenbach river catchment.
