Climate risk assessment for buildings

At alpS GmbH, we offer both customized individual climate risk assessment and assessment in accordance with relevant, nationally and internationally recognized standards for the building sector.

Individual risk assessment

We work with our customers to define the scope and objectives of the risk analysis. Our expertise allows us to respond flexibly to requirements and carry out an individual and context-specific analysis.

EU Taxonomy

The EU Taxonomy Regulation applies to all economic sectors and establishes a set of rules for climate- and environmentally-friendly activities and investments. Six climate and environmental protection goals have been identified for this purpose. These include Environmental Objective 2 – Adaptation to climate change.

In the context of this environmental objective, we carry out corresponding analyses, assess risks, and develop measures for climate adaptation.

BREEAM

The Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) is a world-leading sustainability assessment and certification system for the built environment. The quality of a building and its operation is assessed on the basis of nine environmental categories.

Our expertise lies in particular in assessing the risk of natural hazards, especially flood risk, and investigating the effects of climate change (Rsl 01 and Rsl 03).

klimaaktiv Building Standard

The klimaaktiv Building Standard is the most important certification system in this area in Austria. An updated list of criteria has been available since July 2025. Since then, aspects such as climate adaptation, biodiversity, and circular construction have also been included in the assessment. This means that factors that also play a central role in the context of the EU taxonomy are now included in the klimaaktiv certification process.

As part of an assessment in accordance with the klimaaktiv Building Standard, our focus is primarily on climate adaptation.
