Mr Jan Schmieder is a geographer specialising in hydrology, climatology and cryosphere. Through field work, as well as computer-based analyses and simulations, he gained professional experience in the estimation of water resources in high mountains. Furthermore, he gained professional experience in working on projects in the field of climate impact and risk analysis. In his doctoral thesis, he devoted himself to understanding hydrological processes in the high mountains and asked himself the question: "Where does the water actually come from?
